Case Study: Product Technology Transfer and Production Ramp-Up from Slovakia to China Plant
Project Overview
A global manufacturing company launched a strategic project to transfer product manufacturing technology from its production plant in Slovakia to its manufacturing facility in China. The objective was to establish local production for the Chinese market while reducing overall manufacturing and logistics costs without compromising product quality.
To lead this international project the customer appointed our Interim Project Manager to coordinate the complete technology transfer between both manufacturing plants.
Customer Challenge
The customer needed to transfer product manufacturing technology, production know-how and product subcomponents from the Slovakian plant to the China plant within a demanding project timeline. The challenge was to ensure a smooth production launch while maintaining quality standards, minimizing transfer costs and supporting the company’s approved business case.
Project Scope
Our Interim Project Manager was responsible for coordinating the entire technology transfer project, including:
- Managing the transfer of product manufacturing technology, engineering documentation, and production know-how from Slovakia to China.
- Coordinating the transfer of product subcomponents manufactured in the Slovakian plant, including efficient packaging, transportation and logistics to support production readiness.
- Supporting the launch and start-up of the new production line in the China plant, enabling local manufacturing of the final product for the Chinese market.
Project Execution
The project was delivered through structured planning, close collaboration between engineering, production, quality, logistics and supply chain teams and regular project reviews to ensure milestones were achieved on schedule.
Knowledge transfer, production preparation, operator training and trial production activities were successfully completed before the new production line entered serial production.

The project successfully delivered:
- Complete transfer of manufacturing technology and production documentation.
- Successful logistics and transfer of product subcomponents from Slovakia to China.
- Launch and stabilization of the new production line in the China plant.
- Trained production teams and validated manufacturing processes.
